Appco return to visit SOS families
January 3, 2013
For the Appco Group’s fundraisers, keeping in touch with the organisations they work with is incredibly important, so to again be offered the privilege of visiting one of the SOS Children’s Villages was a welcome offer.
The peaceful village in Kraśnik, Poland, played host to a group of eighteen fundraisers who were greeted at the symbolic entrance gates by the Village Director. A short introduction to the Village, its background and current work was followed by a tour of the site, including the areas set aside for recreation and playgrounds.
Divided into groups, each was invited into one of the homes, where true and touching stories were told by the ‘Mothers’ of the Village who work tirelessly to rebuild the lives of the children.
Joanna Dulej from Appco Group Poland organised the event and said of the visit, “Hearing directly from the children’s carers was very interesting. To learn all about the programme, including recruiting, training and motivating the ‘Mothers’ was invaluable to us, as was the work done to match children with a family in the Village, creating a schedule to bring them back into a normal environment with optimal care.” Ms Dulei continued, “we had an amazing opportunity to meet some of the children as they returned from school whilst the ‘Mothers’ told us about their individual learning and development needs, focussing on their progress since becoming part of the SOS Villages family”.
The partnership with Appco Group Poland has been a prosperous one for the SOS Children’s Village charity in 2012. Over the next 12 months, the company plan to provide enough funding to fully support the village in its entirety and to continue to engage with the work and progress of this valuable organisation.
