The Oxfam Trailwalker is one of the greatest team challenges in the world in the fight against world poverty. The challenge is to travel 100 kilometres in 32 hours in teams of 4 people. In doing so, donations received will go towards improving the lives of thousands of people still living in poverty around the world.
4 staff members from Appco Group España joined forces and participated in this fundraising event that took place over April 20 – 21 in Spain.
Oxfam is an international charity composed of 17 organisations, networking together in more than 90 countries as part of a global movement. Its aim is to build a future free from the injustice of poverty.
Oxfam work directly with communities, seeking to influence the powerful, ensuring poorer people can improve their lives and have a voice in decisions that affect them.
Since the Trailwalker began in 1981, tens of thousands of walkers around the world have successfully taken on the challenge. In 2012 over 22,000 people had collectively walked over 2.2 million kilometers (the same distance as walking around the world 55 times!), becoming great ambassadors for Oxfam, raising over $US18 million. The trails go through some spectacular locations including the mountains around Barcelona, rugged Australian bush, and through a volcanically active national park in Japan, that finishes at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
Oxfam Trailwalker is becoming a global phenomenon with an impressive 16 trails in 11 different countries and counting. This year, Appco España were proud to face this great challenge!
