CAF report reveals over 60% of UK public donated to good causes in 2016
As a professional fundraising agency, it came as no surprise to Appco UK that the latest Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) report shows the UK public continues to give to good causes.
According to the CAF report, the UK public generously donated a total of over £9.5 billion to charities in 2016. For more than 20 years, Appco UK has conducted face-to-face fundraising campaigns on behalf of our clients and many donors praise the professional fundraisers representing these campaigns for their personalised approach.
Appco UK also has a number of robust measures and best practices in place, which allow clients to continue raising awareness of their work in an engaging, responsible and professional way.
A good example of this is Appco UK’s in-house contact centre, which makes welcome calls to approximately 65% of all new donors. This is not only to thank them for their support, but also to make sure donors are happy with the sign-up process. These conversations also regularly reveal the many positive interactions people have with independent face-to-face fundraisers.
The CAF report also notes that towards the end of 2016 donations spiked, with 41% of people giving during the course of November and December – an increase that can be attributed to the successes of campaigns such as Children in Need, the Poppy Appeal, and Movember.
Medical research, animal welfare and charities supporting children and young people were the causes that benefitted most from the public’s support. It was also interesting to read that almost 9 out of 10 members of the public actively do something charitable – a 10% increase from 2015.
